Item: Boat Shuttle/Netting Shuttle

Material: Highly-polished hardwood, likely a dense, close-grained variety (such as maple or cherry) with a rich, dark patina typical of age and handling.

Function: Used to carry the weft thread (the twine or yarn) across the warp threads or through the loops of a net.

Mechanism: Features a hollowed-out central cavity designed to house a removable bobbin or spool, which is currently included and wound with pink-toned thread. The bobbin is secured by two exterior metal wire prongs (springs) and the thread exits through a metal eyelet (grommet) at the tip of the shuttle.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition, showing characteristic wear and a smooth, aged finish.
