German Cigar Press
German Cigar Press
This is an authentic antique or vintage two-piece wooden cigar mold (also known as a cigar press or Wickelform). The piece is of definite German origin, clearly marked with the stamped inscription: "EIGENTUM DER FIRMA WILH. OSTERWALD ENGER" ("Property of the Company Wilh. Osterwald Enger"). The manufacturer, Wilh. Osterwald, was a company located in Enger, Germany, historically known for its involvement in the cigar industry. This mold was an essential tool used to press and shape the tobacco bunches into a uniform cylinder before the final wrapper leaf was applied. It features a specific number stamp—№94 151230—and is connected by wooden pegs, with corresponding holes on the side for ventilation/locking, showcasing the meticulous craftsmanship typical of German tobacciana tools from the late 19th or early 20th century.
