The design features the embossed, hand-painted face of Rex, the King of Carnival, personified as a regal King Neptune with a flowing white beard and a brilliant gold-gilded crown. Two highly detailed \"crawling\" alligators serve as the side supports for the bowl, a classic nod to the Louisiana bayous. The reverse side displays the iconic Syria Shriners emblem—a silver-painted scimitar and crescent—representing the Pittsburgh temple. This 116-year-old specimen is in excellent antique condition, boasting unusually well-preserved gold and silver enamel details that are often flaked or faded on lesser examples.
